1. Introduction

NephroPulse ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use the NephroPulse mobile application ("App").

Our core principle is simple: your health data belongs to you and stays with you. We built NephroPulse as a privacy-first application that works entirely offline, ensuring your sensitive health information never reaches our servers.

2. Data We Collect

On Our Servers: Nothing

We do not collect, store, or process any personal data on our servers. NephroPulse is designed to function entirely offline without any connection to our infrastructure.

This includes:

  • No health data (blood pressure, glucose levels, medications, etc.)
  • No personal information (name, date of birth, etc.)
  • No usage analytics or behavioral data
  • No device identifiers or tracking data
  • No location data

3. Local Data Storage

All data you enter into NephroPulse is stored locally on your device in an encrypted database. We use AES-256 encryption (the same standard used by banks) to protect your health information.

Data stored locally on your device includes:

  • Health measurements (blood pressure, glucose, weight, etc.)
  • Medication information and adherence records
  • Lab results and kidney function data
  • Emergency contact information
  • App preferences and settings

This data remains on your device and is only accessible through the App with your device's authentication (passcode, Face ID, Touch ID, etc.).

4. Cloud Backup

If you choose to enable cloud backup, your data is backed up to your personal cloud storage account (iCloud on iOS or OneDrive on Android). This backup is:

  • Encrypted before leaving your device
  • Stored in your own cloud account, not ours
  • Controlled entirely by you
  • Subject to your cloud provider's privacy policy

We never have access to your cloud storage or backup files. The backup feature is optional and can be disabled at any time.

5. Third-Party Services

NephroPulse does not integrate with any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services. We do not use:

  • Google Analytics or similar analytics tools
  • Facebook SDK or social media integrations
  • Advertising networks
  • Crash reporting services that transmit personal data
  • Any service that would require sharing your data

The only third-party services involved are the app stores (Apple App Store and Google Play) for distribution and in-app purchases, and your chosen cloud provider if you enable backup.

6. Your Rights Under GDPR

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and similar privacy laws, you have several rights regarding your personal data. Since we don't collect your data on our servers, most of these rights are automatically fulfilled:

  • Right of Access: All your data is stored locally on your device. You can view it anytime in the App.
  • Right to Rectification: You can edit any data directly in the App.
  • Right to Erasure: You can delete any or all data from the App settings. Uninstalling the App removes all data. See our Data Deletion page for details.
  • Right to Data Portability: You can export your data as a PDF report from within the App.
  • Right to Object: Since we don't process your data, there's nothing to object to.

7. Children's Privacy

NephroPulse can be used by individuals of any age, including children with kidney conditions. However, if you are under the age of 16 (or the applicable age of consent in your jurisdiction), please use the App only with the involvement of a parent or guardian. Since all data is stored locally on the device, parental controls should be managed at the device level.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify you through the App or by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this policy. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.

10. Summary

We built NephroPulse with privacy as the foundation. Your health data is personal and sensitive - it should never be used for advertising, analytics, or any purpose other than helping you manage your health. By keeping everything local and encrypted on your device, we ensure that you maintain complete control over your information. Your data is yours. Period.
