Why I Built NephroPulse
A personal journey that became a mission to help others
It Started with My Brother
In 2019, my brother was diagnosed with chronic kidney disease. What followed was a journey that changed our entire family's life — countless hospital visits, endless lab tests, managing multiple medications, and the emotional rollercoaster that comes with watching someone you love fight a serious illness.
When his condition progressed and he needed a kidney transplant, we traveled to Bangalore, India, where some of the best nephrology care in the world is available. The transplant was successful, but that was just the beginning of a new chapter.
Post-transplant life brought its own challenges: immunosuppressant medications that had to be taken at exact times, blood pressure readings multiple times a day, glucose monitoring, tracking creatinine and eGFR levels, watching for signs of rejection. The list was overwhelming.
We tried every health app we could find. Some were too generic. Others wanted to upload our health data to the cloud — something that felt deeply uncomfortable given how sensitive this information was. None of them understood the specific needs of someone living with kidney disease.
Building What We Needed
So I decided to build it myself. As a developer, I had the skills. As a caregiver, I had the understanding of what was truly needed. NephroPulse was born from those sleepless nights at the hospital, from the frustration of trying to remember if a medication was taken, from the anxiety of waiting for lab results.
I built it with privacy as the foundation — because your health data is nobody's business but yours. Everything stays on your device, encrypted and secure. No ads, no data selling, no compromise.
I built it with the kidney community in mind — features like eGFR tracking, dialysis logging, immunosuppressant management, and the specific metrics that matter for kidney health. Because generic health apps just don't cut it when you're managing a complex condition.
I built it with love — for my brother, for the millions of people worldwide living with kidney disease, and for their families who walk this journey alongside them.
Our Mission
Today, my brother is doing well. His transplanted kidney is functioning beautifully, and he uses NephroPulse every day to stay on top of his health. Seeing him healthy and thriving is the greatest reward I could ask for.
But I know there are millions of others out there on similar journeys. People who are scared, overwhelmed, trying to make sense of their health data while juggling work, family, and life.
NephroPulse is for all of you — the kidney warriors, the dialysis patients, the transplant recipients, and the caregivers who support them. You're not alone in this journey, and I hope this app makes your path a little easier.
